Ready to take the next step in your career and be a lead attorney? The Office of Energy Infrastructure Safety is seeking an Attorney IV based in Sacramento to represent, oversee and enforce utility infrastructure safety. Duties include:

  • Independently performs research and analysis on complex and highly technical issues related to public utilities regulation, including matters of first impression and some high-profile matters.
  • Prepare legal briefs and memoranda on behalf of Energy Safety or the advocacy and enforcement divisions. Serve as lead attorney in litigation before the State and Federal Courts and Federal regulatory agencies which involve high degree of importance and complexity.
  • Serve as point of contact in area of specialization, including working with specialized counsel, and leading subject matter teams.
  • Advise and assist Underground Safety Board (USB) Members, and staff members on complex matters regarding application of regulations to Energy Safety’s powers, duties, and procedures.

  • Conducting or overseeing litigation
  • Dig Safe Act or Environmental Law
  • Board counsel or working with a Board

Required Qualifications:

  • Active membership in The California State Bar AND
  • Six years of legal experience in the practice of law*, one year of which must have been at a level equivalent to an Attorney III or higher.
