Title: Camp Caretaker

Compensation: $700/Week, Housing in RV at PVFC

Dates:  April 15, 2024 - June 15, 2024

Primary Location: Professor Valley Field Camp, Mile Marker 19.5, Hwy 128, Moab, UT

Job Description:

The Camp Caretaker is based at Professor Valley Field Camp, a rustic facility on private land located 20 miles from Moab, UT. The camp surrounded by open space, world class views and spectacular night skies. The Field Camp has two yurts, 15 tipis and storage barn and is used for environmental/outdoor education.  The Camp Caretaker  primarily works with middle and high school groups though will also support a few adult and family programs. The Camp Caretaker lives at the Field Camp in a small RV unit which has electricity, hauled culinary water, shower, cooling/heating and cell service. During programs, meals are provided. The Camp Caretaker must have their own reliable vehicle to commute to and from town; official work related mileage will be reimbursed. Direct supervision will be by CFI Operations Director and weekly project or program managers.

Duties:

  • Perform landscape maintenance duties such as the removal of invasive plants and irrigation system monitoring
  • Camp facility upkeep such as maintaining tipis, culinary water testing, routine cleaning, and organizing supplies.
  • Support Operations Director in camp closing activities at the end of the program season.
  • Assists with camping equipment and vehicle checks at the CFI headquarters.
  • Assist camp cook during programs.
  • Drive crew shuttle for educational river trips.
  • Assist with one or two adult/public outreach events and service projects.  

Additional CFI Requirements

  • Physical ability to lift 50 lb
  • A valid driver's license, 21 and older to meet insurance requirements, provide Motor Vehicle Report, clean driving record for 3 years, and have own reliable vehicle suitable.
  • DOT medical examination certificate, current.
  • Minimum of Basic First Aid & CPR or better
  • Be comfortable living in a remote location, at times entirely alone and at others with large  groups up to 60 in number.
  • Enjoy working with youth age 12-18.  
  • Physically able to work outdoors 8-10 hours a day in a range of weather conditions.
  • Live on site at Professor Valley Field Camp; no pets, no tobacco use. 
  • A positive and professional manner with diverse populations

Training/Professional Development you will receive:
