About Us:
Grain Ecosystem is a fast-growing venture-backed company helping companies turn waste into biochar, a profitable and sustainable carbon removal solution. Our digital tools and expert team simplify every stage of project development—from feasibility assessment to financing and execution.
Grain, backed by Schneider Electric and Elevate Ventures, is on a mission to accelerate decarbonization through innovative, digital-first solutions. We combine business expertise and cutting-edge technology to remove barriers to waste to value project development. We're building a high-performing global team that blends business, science, and technology to transform how we decarbonize our world
The Role
We’re looking for a hands-on associate who thrives at the intersection of customer service and technical execution. In this role, you’ll help carbon removal projects move from idea to implementation while also delivering Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and improving the core tools that power our platform. Your work will directly accelerate decarbonization efforts across North America and the globe.
This is a hands-on, execution-oriented role split evenly between two focus areas:
- 50% Technical Service Delivery - Completing Life Cycle Assessments and ensuring proper deployment of compliant evidence gathering structure.
- 50% Customer Success - Supporting project developers on their path to building and scaling a successful carbon removal project using the Grain platform.
You’ll work directly with project developers to ensure they make progress, overcome technical hurdles, and meet key requirements. At the same time, you’ll deliver LCAs needed for tax credits and carbon credit registries and help evolve the tooling and data that make Grain’s platform more valuable over time.
Responsibilities
Technical Service Delivery (50%)
1. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Development & Tax Credit Compliance
- Lead the development of streamlined ISO 14040/44-compliant LCAs that meet the technical requirements of U.S. tax incentives (e.g. 48E) and voluntary registries (e.g.
Puro.earth). - Build internal processes and templates that enable high-confidence, repeatable LCAs.
- Collaborate with science, engineering, and customer teams to embed LCA generation into the project onboarding flow.
- Build the carbon monitoring plan to measure performance against LCA and produce auditable evidence support.
2. Deployment of the Build & Operate Monitoring solution
- Structure the repeatable deployment management process for customers who are ready to operate their waste-to-value, carbon removal project.
- Ensure monitoring plans are adhered to and provide guidance around alternative approaches that would be a better operational fit.
- Champion the voice of the customer during product roadmap development and feature prioritization.
Customer Success (50%)
- Be the primary support contact for a portfolio of carbon removal developers in the Build & Operate offering.
- Provide guidance on platform use, documentation requirements, and credit-readiness.
- Proactively flag recurring issues and support internal process/tool improvements.
- Track project progress and customer milestones using internal systems.
Experience
Required:
- 2+ years supporting carbon removal, renewable energy, or environmental compliance projects.
- Demonstrated success in leveraging communication skills (both verbal and written) for customer-facing roles (e.g. success, implementation, consulting).
- Hands-on experience developing ISO 14040/44-compliant LCAs or carbon intensity models.
- Familiarity with project data inputs, emissions calculations, and MRV systems.
Internal
- Systems thinking approach with the ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced startup environment.
Preferred:
- Experience working with or selecting biomass processing and pyrolysis equipment.
- Working knowledge of clean energy incentives (e.g. 48E, 45Q) and standards (e.g. Puro.earth, CAR).
- Technical background in environmental engineering, carbon finance, or industrial process modeling.
- Project Management experience, with a focus on timelines, delivery and clear communication.
Who we’re looking for:
- A passionate individual who is looking to make an impact by solving real barriers to accelerating decarbonization.
- Someone excited to work in a start-up environment but have access to a state-of-the-art support system, through Acceleration Labs and Schneider Electric.
Job Type: Full-time remote (Employees expected to work North American time zones).
Compensation: Competitive salary + equity package, based on experience
Our Values:
We’re easy to do business with – We meet the customers and partners where they are. We make it easy for them by going the “extra mile.” We take ownership of mistakes and learn from them – We are not afraid to take initiative and try new things.
We have conviction in our beliefs and support them with data – We are flexible enough to change our minds when the data is convincing.
