Chief Executive Officer

Galapagos Conservancy

United States, Other

Job Type Permanent
Salary Details $200,000

Galápagos Conservancy (GC) is the only U.S.-based nonprofit dedicated exclusively to the protection and restoration of the Galápagos Islands and its brilliant mosaic of life, including more than 2,000 species found nowhere else on Earth.

As a leader in direct, on-the-ground conservation action, it works with partners, including the Galápagos National Park Directorate, to save imperilled species, build a more sustainable society, and rewild the complex ecosystems of the Archipelago.

Since 1985, Galápagos Conservancy has worked with Galápagos-based, national, and international organizations and individuals to support the scientific research needed for policy, decision making, and conservation management — as well as to provide financial resources to key management institutions working in Galápagos to help ensure that they remain strong and effective.

We are now seeking a visionary, entrepreneurial, and dynamic Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who will embrace this opportunity to make an impact on one of the most extraordinary archipelagos in the world. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will oversee the development and implementation of a strategy to fulfill the organization’s mission and all aspects of GC’s operations, serve as the chief fundraiser, manage administrative and operations functions, and act as an ambassador to the public and partners.

The successful CEO of Galápagos Conservancy will be an innovative, entrepreneurial, and inspirational fundraiser and motivational leader with the demonstrated ability to engage stakeholders in a multi-cultural nonprofit organization and a strong track record in fundraising and operations management. The ideal candidate will combine these skills with a passion for the well-being of Galápagos’ biodiversity, ecosystems and human community, and an ability to clearly articulate to donors the significance of GC’s work in the overall protection of the archipelago’s ecosystems and its iconic place in biodiversity protection globally.

The CEO can be based in any location across the US or Latin America, with a preference for locations amenable to frequent international travel.

The salary for the role is c. $200,000 USD dependent upon experience.
