Contractor Scope of Work: Climate Modeler
Overview
We are seeking an independent contractor (post-doctoral level) to provide advanced climate modeling and quantitative ecology services. The contractor will conduct spatiotemporal statistical analyses, integrating climate, remote sensing, and biodiversity data to assess resilience of species assemblages and identify potential climate refugia across an elevational gradient in southeastern Peru.
This is a one-year contractor agreement, primarily remote with optional travel to Peru.
Deliverables
The contractor will be responsible for:
- Developing and implementing statistical models to analyze large ecological and climate datasets.
- Producing maps, visualizations, and written reports of model outputs for scientific and policy applications.
- Data synthesis and preparation of manuscript(s) that identifies and characterizes potential climate refugia for key species across multiple climate change scenarios.
Duration and Reporting
- Contract period: November 2025 – October 2026 (12 months).
- The contractor will provide monthly progress updates, including summaries of preliminary results, analyses, and data interpretation.
- Contractor will complete and submit manuscripts by the end of the contract period.
Qualifications
- PhD in Quantitative Ecology or related field.
- Proven expertise in statistical modeling, remote sensing, and climate/biodiversity data analysis.
- Publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
- Strong programming skills in R/Python; experience with Google Earth Engine and GIS tools preferred.
