Great Basin National Park Foundation (the nonprofit partner of Great Basin National Park) is seeking a motivated and creative intern to support communications, education, and nonprofit capacity-building efforts during the summer season (10 week position to begin either June 1 or June 15).

Position Overview

The Communications & Education Intern will play a key role in telling the story of Great Basin National Park and supporting the Foundation’s mission. Candidates will be selected before May 2 and will serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate. Please apply asap directly to Great Basin National Park Foundation per instructions below.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage social media content (photography, video, storytelling)
  • Assist with educational programming and outreach initiatives
  • Support nonprofit capacity-building projects (research, communications strategy, organizational assets)
  • Create engaging multimedia content highlighting Park and Foundation resources, programs, and conservation efforts
  • Collaborate with Foundation staff on building public engagement collateral

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who are passionate, adaptable, and eager to contribute. Ideal applicants will have:

  • A passion for the outdoors, public lands, and conservation
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • A strong work ethic and a drive to take initiative
  • Comfort and experience with outdoor exploration and field-based work

Preferred Skills (any combination of the following):

  • Photography and/or videography
  • Film or video editing
  • Social media management
  • Environmental education experience
  • Experience working with youth or in educational settings
  • Interest or experience in nonprofits
  • Writing, journalism, or communications experience
