Highstead Foundation in Redding, Connecticut, is recruiting a full-time Communications and Events Intern. This hybrid internship requires 1 in-office day per week in Redding, CT. The intern will support Highstead’s Conservation Program for 6.5 months, from June 1 to December 18, 2026. The internship begins June 1, 2026, with the option to start earlier as soon as May 4, 2026. The intern will receive a stipend of $20 per hour.

Overview:

The primary focus for this position will be supporting the Regional Conservation Partnership (RCP) Network Gathering, an in-person conference for over 300 landscape conservation practitioners. The conference will be held at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst on November 4–5, 2026. Attendance at the event is mandatory. The position also supports Highstead communication projects as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Support event programming and logistics, including planning documents, program development, and communications
  • Create and update content for Highstead and RCP Network e-newsletters, social media, and websites
  • Produce event materials (programs, evaluations, agendas, signage, name tags) and support online registration
  • Conduct partner outreach to support participation
  • Assist with RCP Network initiatives, including meeting support, notes, and report updates
  • Help coordinate RCP meetings, webinars, and related events (e.g., Hudson to Housatonic, Northeast Bird Habitat Conservation Initiatives)

Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively via email, presentations, meetings, and virtual formats
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, graphic design software (Canva or Photoshop), and comfortable using social media platforms
  • Self-directed and dependable; able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • A bachelor’s degree preferred
  • A strong interest in conservation and protecting the environment
  • Reliable transportation is required; must live within commuting distance of our Redding, CT office
