Job Type: Part-time (Up to 20 hours per week)
Duration: May – July 2026
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Location: Remote (U.S.-based candidates only, Eastern Time Zone preferred)
Reports to: Managing Director of Communications
Compensation: $22/hour
About Global Forest Generation
Global Forest Generation (GFG) is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to large-scale, community-led ecosystem restoration across critical landscapes worldwide. GFG works at the intersection of ecological restoration, water security, biodiversity protection, and community livelihoods, partnering closely with local organizations and Indigenous and rural communities. Currently, our flagship project is Acción Andina, a multi-country initiative to restore high Andean landscapes in South America. Our approach recognizes that enduring conservation outcomes depend on strong systems, trusted relationships, and operational excellence that enable programmatic impact.
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Communications Intern to support day-to-day communications and digital engagement. This role is ideal for someone interested in climate, storytelling, and nonprofit communications who is eager to gain hands-on experience across social media, content creation, and digital strategy.
The intern will play a key role in maintaining consistency across channels while supporting campaigns and storytelling efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support social media management, including scheduling, posting, and content coordination (primary focus)
- Draft and edit content for social media, blogs, newsletters, ads (Google, Meta), and web platforms
- Track and organize communications metrics and performance
- Assist with newsletter creation and formatting
- Repurpose content across platforms to extend reach and engagement
- Support basic website updates and blog publishing
- Provide general coordination and administrative support for communications projects
Qualifications
Required
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn)
- Organized, proactive, and detail-oriented
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Willingness to learn and take initiative
- Interest in climate, sustainability, or social impact
Preferred
- Experience with social media scheduling tools
- Basic design skills (Canva or similar)
- Familiarity with newsletter platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact)
- Experience with website platforms (e.g., WordPress or similar)
- Spanish language proficiency (a plus)
