Job summary: We're looking for a communications intern to join our remote team. You’ll support our environmental initiatives by developing and creating compelling content for newsletters, eBooks, social posts, and fact sheets and help promote and support monthly webinars. We're a small nonprofit that collaborates with many top environmental and conservation organizations in Virginia. Perks include opportunities for field work and portfolio-ready samples with real-world impact.
Sample projects:
- Translate webinar materials into engaging and useful eBooks and white papers
- Research and write engaging content on invasive plants for newsletters
- Research and write one to two social posts each week and adapt content across channels
- Suggest pitches to encourage media coverage
- Contribute innovative ideas to enhance communications efforts
Requirements/skills:
- US work authorization
- Strong written communication skills
- Demonstrated interest in environmental and conservation issues
- Ability to translate scientific concepts into accessible language for a general audience
- Adept at conducting online research from credible sources to support communication assets
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- 1-to-1 meetings weekly
Education:
Sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, media studies, or a related program
Minimum time requirements:
Summer, 20 hours a week for 8 weeks
Academic term, 10 hours a week for 15 weeks
