Communications Manager Overview:  

The Communications Manager will lead FCNC’s external communications and outreach to grow awareness and support for our conservation, trails, stewardship, and community engagement programs. This role involves managing digital and print content, such as press releases, social media, newsletters, website revisions and updates, and fundraising materials.  This position supports all marketing and fundraising efforts. The ideal candidate is a strong writer, storyteller, and communicator, collaborative yet self-directed, and passionate about building connections across diverse communities in support of FCNC’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Copywriting & Content Creation: Serve as lead copywriter for a wide range of communication materials including fundraising appeals, newsletters and reports, press releases, donor letters, and promotional content.
  • Digital & Print Marketing Management: Implement FCNC’s email marketing, social media, website, and print materials to maintain consistent, engaging messaging and drive constituent engagement.
  • Public Relations & Strategic Communication: Develop creative PR strategies, manage communications for events and outreach efforts, and build partnerships that support FCNC’s mission.
  • Social Media Management: Manage social media posting calendar and ensure that content is posted according to calendar across all social media channels.  
  • Fundraising Support: Collaborate with development staff to write compelling fundraising appeals, event materials, and donor-focused social media content that increase giving and engagement.
  • Internal & Cross-Team Collaboration: Support internal communications by assisting with volunteer outreach, board materials, and collaborative marketing efforts across departments and major initiatives.
