Employment Opportunity

Ottawa Riverkeeper is seeking a Communications Officer to support the planning and delivery of communications that raise awareness, engage the public, and advance the protection of the Ottawa River. This position is covering a leave of absence. 

  • Start Date: April 20, 2026
  • End Date: October 30, 2026
  • Position Type: Full-time fixed-term contract 
  • Salary range: $56,000-60,000 
  • Hours: 37.5 hrs/week

What you will do

Ottawa Riverkeeper is seeking to fill the role of Communications Officer. You will be the lead for communications at Ottawa Riverkeeper. Tasks may include:

  • Aligning communications with advocacy, fundraising, and program goals 
  • Website and campaign management 
  • Social media coordination and content creation
  • Media coordination

  • Strong coordination skills
  • Social media expertise
  • Ability to prioritize work across many channels 
  • Exceptional writing skills that are clear and persuasive
  • Attention to detail, including excellent editing skills 

Other valued skills:

  • People management
  • Bilingualism considered a strong asset 
  • Expertise with CRMs and related systems (e.g., Salesforce, Zapier, Wix, etc) 
  • Media training
