This position has the potential for professional advancement and position expansion as the organization continues to grow and respond to the needs of Connecticut’s land trusts and their communities.

Principal Responsibilities

Community Conservation Programs

In collaboration with the CLCC staff, consultants, and program partners, the Coordinator is responsible for overall development and implementation of CLCC’s existing and new Community Conservation Programs. These programs help land trusts build effective partnerships that engage new members of their communities, and create more inclusive, equitable, and diverse organizations.

Related responsibilities include:

  • Community Engagement: Sustain and expand Bird & Hike with CT Land Trusts program to engage diverse groups. Develop a mentorship model to train future hike leaders and build land trust capacity to sustain the program independently.
  • Trail Access & Accessibility: Coordinate funding and support for land trust trail assessments focused on mobility, language, and signage access, while exploring accessibility as an entry point for deeper conversations about DEI and long-term community partnership.
  • Youth & Workforce Development: Launch an annual college outreach effort to connect students with career paths in land conservation, in partnership with land trust leaders, while exploring opportunities for a statewide conservation internship program.
  • Other Programming: Host periodic learning opportunities (e.g., summits or webinars) exploring conservation’s intersections with topics of housing, food security, Indigenous partnerships, environmental justice, etc.

Program-Related Communications and Outreach

The Coordinator is responsible for promoting and communicating the impacts of CLCC’s Community Conservation Programs to a broad audience that includes and extends beyond the Connecticut land conservation community.

Related responsibilities include:

  • Identify, build, and maintain intentional and authentic partnerships—especially with diverse constituencies, sectors, and communities not well served or engaged by the land conservation field.
  • Generate content such as blog posts, news items, and press releases regarding Community Conservation Programs.

Fundraising and Development

The Coordinator will assist in raising resources from individuals, foundations, corporations, and government partners to support Community Conservation Program priorities.

Other Duties as Assigned

The Coordinator will be part of a close-knit staff that prides itself on working as a team and supporting each other and CLCC in furthering individual and collective success. Other duties may be assigned, as needed.
