About Conservation Colorado
As the largest statewide environmental organization in Colorado, our mission is simple: we work to protect our state’s climate, air, land, water, and communities. We play a unique role in Colorado as our work focuses on organizing communities, influencing decision-makers, and electing conservation-minded leaders. And, where communities once burdened by environmental injustices lead the way forward. You can learn more about our mission here.
What You’ll Do
Reporting to the VP of Fundraising, this role leads the strategy, management, and execution of major fundraising events—including our premier annual celebration, Rebel with a Cause—while driving growth and stewardship across our small and monthly donor communities. The responsibilities include:
Small Donor Management
- Manage and grow relationships with donors giving under $1,000 annually.
- Set and achieve revenue goals by designing intentional cultivation plans, managing donor touchpoints, and maintaining accurate tracking in Salesforce.
- Build authentic, personal relationships through calls, meetings, and ongoing correspondence.
- Monitor donor performance and implement strategies to strengthen retention and increase annual giving.
Monthly Giving & Donor Conversion
- Retain and upgrade existing monthly donors while acquiring new recurring supporters.
- Lead engagement strategies for new organizational members and action‑takers, guiding them along a clear journey toward first‑time and recurring giving.
- Develop and execute conversion strategies that turn one‑time online donors into loyal monthly contributors.
- Provide excellent stewardship to ensure monthly donors feel valued, connected, and informed.
Fundraising Event Leadership
- Serve as the project lead for major fundraising events—including Rebel with a Cause and Rebel Run—overseeing planning, execution, timelines, logistics, and cross‑department coordination.
- Manage all administrative and financial processes related to event execution, including budgeting, revenue and expense tracking, vendor payments, and reconciliation.
- Partner closely with the Special Gifts Manager on corporate sponsorships: while they lead strategy and outreach, you will collaborate on sponsorship fulfillment and ensure seamless donor and sponsor integration throughout events.
In addition to your regular responsibilities, all staff are expected to participate at some level in organizational priorities including helping in certain fundraising efforts, taking part in election-related activities, and committing to organizational efforts around equity & inclusivity.
Qualifications
This position is a great opportunity to help build a thriving, sustainable donor base that is committed to helping the organization grow and deliver big wins on environmental policy. To be successful in this job, you will have the emotional intelligence, flexibility, and tenacity, to work well with our team. Fundamentally, we want someone who can thrive in a fast-paced & collaborative environment. More specifically, you will have or be most or all of the following:
- Small-Dollar Portfolio Management & Inclusive Stewardship Experience. You’ll have proven experience managing and growing a portfolio of small-dollar and monthly donors, applying equitable, community‑centric fundraising practices that honor diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and ensure every supporter feels valued and included.
- Strong Project Management Skills. This role is responsible for End-to-End Event Planning & Financial Execution of our events so you must have the ability to independently plan, execute, and oversee complex fundraising events—from budget development and reconciliation to vendor coordination, logistics oversight, and cross‑team sponsorship fulfillment.
- Exceptional Collaboration Skills. This position requires deep cross-departmental partnerships. That means you’ll need strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to work fluidly across departments, manage up and across teams, and drive multi‑channel donor engagement strategies that require tight coordination and clear communication.
- Community-Informed Fundraising & Committee Engagement Experience. We would love to find someone with deep experience partnering with community-based committees and stakeholders to design, promote, and execute fundraising events that authentically reflect community priorities, elevate local voices, and strengthen grassroots participation. But if you understand community-centric fundraising and believe in equitable fundraising best practices, let’s talk.
This position does not have an undergraduate education requirement. Spanish/English bilingual is a skill we value, but it is not a requirement. This is a full-time job but there can be some flexibility in the exact schedule.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this full-time role is $80,000-90,000, with exact salary depending on relevant experience and demonstrated competencies. We offer competitive pay and benefits, rooted in equity, transparency, and trust—and never ask for prior salary history.
We provide high-quality health insurance and a strong benefits package that includes a SIMPLE IRA retirement plan with a match, at least 30 days of vacation & holidays in addition to six physical & mental wellness days in your first year, a parental leave and a sabbatical program. Please note that as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization, Conservation Colorado employees are not eligible to participate in the Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
All Conservation Colorado roles involve some in-person work, so COVID vaccination is required. We’ve adopted a flexible hybrid model without a fixed in-office schedule—each team member works with their manager to determine what makes sense based on role and preference. Those who prefer can work from the office full-time.
We are committed to building a more diverse & inclusive organization and conservation movement to fully represent and engage all Coloradans and to build as powerful a movement as we can. Recruiting staff that better reflects Colorado is a priority, and we encourage applicants from all cultures, races, ethnicities, geographies, political affiliations, sexual orientations, gender identities, and all other identities represented in Colorado or protected by law. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
