Community Programs – Engagement Associate (Seasonal)

The Engagement Associate (EA) is responsible for helping to create an informed and engaged community to support Keep Tahoe Blue’s priority goals and mission. Under the direction of the Engagement Manager (EM), the EA works as part of the Community Programs Team. The EA’s primary responsibilities include working with the EM to coordinate and execute Keep Tahoe Blue’s water quality and hands-on restoration programs and engage Tahoe’s diverse community through outreach. The EA assists with Keep Tahoe Blue’s citizen science programs by helping recruit and train program volunteers. The EA assists with tracking and managing data and reporting on program/event activities. The EA will also assist with the transition of our sticker program and provide support to the Community Programs Department by leading cleanups, teaching environmental lessons, and supporting Keep Tahoe Blue-led events.

Essential Functions / Principal Responsibilities

  • Support the coordination and execution of Snapshot Day, Tahoe Forest Stewardship Days, Eyes on the Lake, and other Keep Tahoe Blue signature events.
  • Assist events by preparing materials, leading assigned activities, and managing cleanup and equipment organization.
  • Lead community outreach booths, tabling opportunities and volunteer events.
  • Accurately input and track Community Programs data.
  • Assist with Keep Tahoe Blue signature events as well as other Community Program events.
  • Ensure the Community Program storage units remain organized and well-maintained.
  • Conduct inventory of Community Program equipment and notify EM if supplies are low.
  • Post promotions for upcoming events around the community, and online community calendars.
  • Collect/restock Keep Tahoe Blue stickers at businesses throughout the Lake Tahoe Basin and Truckee.

Other Duties:

  • Attend meetings and activities as requested by the Supervisor.
  • Increase skill level through reading and training.
  • Supervise volunteers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required:

  • An interest in environmental conservation and Keep Tahoe Blue’s mission to protect, restore, and advocate for the ecosystem health and scenic beauty of the Lake Tahoe Basin.
  • Strong public speaking and communications skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
  • Experience working with others in meetings and/or projects to meet a common goal.
  • Experience using M365 Applications and other data management software.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
  • Excellent phone manners and customer service.
  • Ability to set appropriate priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects and relationships simultaneously.
  • Willingness to work outdoors, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work on weekends and occasional evenings.
  • Ability to efficiently get around the Tahoe Basin and transport program supplies (i.e. pop-up tent, outreach box, etc.).

Preferred:

  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required.

Keep Tahoe Blue Specific Requirements

  • Must have a reliable vehicle with valid driver’s license, registration, and insurance.
  • Vehicle must be suitable for travel throughout the Tahoe Basin and surrounding regions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds as needed.
  • Attendance required at key Keep Tahoe Blue events.

Pay, Hours and Time Requirements

  • Expected Pay: $20-25 per hour.
