Sauk County is hiring a Conservation Agronomist! We’re looking for a conservation-minded agronomist who wants to make a real difference where agriculture and natural resources meet. The Conservation Agronomist will work directly with landowners, farmers, and partners to advance soil health, nutrient management, cover crops, no-till practices, and other conservation solutions that protect working lands and water quality. This role blends boots-on-the-ground fieldwork with technical expertise—supporting nutrient management planning, conservation program implementation, demonstration plots at the Sauk County Farm, producer-led watershed efforts, and practical education that helps move good ideas into action. Additional information can be found on the application website.

Beyond the opportunity to be a part of an awesome department, Sauk County is a remarkable place to call home. From the Baraboo Bluffs and Wisconsin River to rolling farmland, vibrant communities, and year-round outdoor recreation, Sauk County offers the kind of landscape conservation professionals care deeply about—and get to enjoy after work, too. Whether it’s hiking, paddling, fishing, exploring local shops and restaurants, or taking in the natural beauty of one of Wisconsin’s most scenic regions, Sauk County offers an outstanding quality of life along with meaningful public service. If you’re ready to help shape the future of conservation in a place that values both its land and its people, this could be the opportunity for you.
