POSITION SUMMARY:
Eastern Sierra Land Trust (ESLT) is seeking a Conservation Coordinator to join our team in Bishop, California. This position will primarily support our Stewardship and Community Connections programs, helping increase organizational capacity during the busy spring, summer, and fall seasons. This is a full-time, seasonal, non-exempt position with accrued benefits. The role is approximately 60% field-based and 40% office-based. ESLT provides a fully equipped office and a vehicle for all work-related travel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the Stewardship Director with annual monitoring and reporting of 20+ conservation easement properties, fee lands, and deed restrictions.
- Support the Stewardship Program with habitat restoration, invasive species control, trail and sign maintenance, equipment upkeep, and ecological monitoring.
- Assist Land Conservation Programs Director with acquisition-related tasks including but not limited to data collection, baseline documentation and site visits.
- Support the Community Connections Program with educational programming, field trips, workshops, tabling and other community outreach activities.
- Maintain ESLT’s demonstration pollinator garden and backyard.
- Support the Development and Communications Program with content creation for Enews, blog posts, social media, etc.
- Provide additional support for outreach and fundraising events as needed.
- Coordinate seasonal interns and volunteers to support Stewardship and Community Connections program goals.
- Other tasks as assigned.
DESIRED SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:
- Experience with ArcGIS software, geospatial analysis, and GPS navigation.
- Experience with and/or ability to learn Landscape Land Conservation Software.
- Knowledge of ESLT’s mission and programs and of the Eastern Sierra.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively organize tasks.
- Experience with public speaking and working with diverse audiences.
- Proficiency with Dropbox and Google Workspace.
- Skilled in writing and editing content for social media and other outreach platforms.
- Keen attention to detail and desire to learn.
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Valid California Driver's license.
WORKING CONDITIONS
ESLT provides a fully functioning office in Bishop, CA where all equipment and supplies are made available. ESLT does permit hybrid (in-office and remote) work options with adherence to established organizational policies. Some weekend and evening work and travel is required.
The position requires the ability to drive long distances and perform fieldwork in variable and sometimes challenging conditions, including high temperatures, insects and ticks, inclement weather, dense or thorny vegetation, and uneven terrain while carrying up to 25 pounds.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
You will be entitled to vacation and sick pay on an accrual basis. Full-time, seasonal employees accrue vacation at a monthly rate commensurate with their length of employment. The initial vacation leave benefit is 15 days per year, accrued semi-monthly. All employees accrue sick leave at the rate of ten days each year.
Seasonal employees are eligible for legally mandated benefits such as Workers Compensation Insurance, California Disability Insurance, and paid sick leave.
