The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs (CTWS) are looking for a limited duration seasonal technician to assist with our fisheries/habitat fieldwork and hatchery operations at the Parkdale field office.  This internship is a full time (40 hours/week), 30-week (approx.), paid position for high school graduates or college students over 18 years of age looking to gain more work experience in Tribal fisheries.  The technician will be paid $18-22/hour, depending on experience, and work alongside CTWS fisheries professionals.

This position includes a variety of duties and data collection related to fisheries management, research, habitat improvement, and salmon hatchery operations. These duties include, but are not limited to: spawning surveys, habitat improvement work, hatchery operations (feeding fish, cleaning fish ponds), creel surveys, light carpentry, and equipment maintenance. The position requires participation in a variety of fisheries survey work, some of which is physically demanding and entails long days outside working in rivers, walking and hiking 3 or more miles in challenging terrain, and lifting 30 or more pounds.  This work has the potential to occur in inclement weather and may include nights and weekends.

We are looking for candidates that are passionate about the outdoors, fish, supporting Tribal conservation work, and have these qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid drivers license with a clear driving record
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Receive and pass a Federal UA test prior to employment

The technician would be expected to start in May and work for approximately 30 weeks depending on funding. The start and end dates may be flexible to accommodate the right candidate.
