Are you passionate about fundraising, program management, and equitable change? Join Climable and help drive progress in the climate and energy sector! We're seeking a Development and Program Manager to support our mission-driven work. This position offers the opportunity to make a major impact on our fundraising and donor base while also leading educational programs. Enjoy the flexibility of either full-time or part-time hours in this role and be part of our close-knit team!

Position Description

Climable is a small woman-run nonprofit with a mission to make climate science and clean energy understandable, actionable, and accessible for everyone. Our end goals are energy democracy (public participation in the energy transition) and climate resilience (improved avenues for anticipating, preparing for, and responding to climate disasters). We focus on 1) clean community microgrid development projects (solar and battery storage) in Environmental Justice (EJ) communities, 2) educational programs for students, children, and adults, and 3) stakeholder engagement and community outreach. Climable works hard to make sure people and communities are not left behind in the clean energy transition.

Climable is looking for a Development and Program Manager to join our tight-knit team. The Manager will support interns, volunteers, and fundraising at Climable. This is a two-part role with the opportunity to manage volunteers and interns, plan events, and lead educational programs, and with the opportunity to support fundraising and donor development. The ideal candidate will have experience with fundraising, development, or grant writing, and be excited to work in an organization focused on climate change and environmental justice.

Climable is a small team with four permanent staff members. Due to the small size of the organization, teammates wear many hats, and you will too. This position is an excellent opportunity to focus on mission-driven work while shaping our fundraising strategy, supporting operations, and leading educational programs. We are happy to consider either full-time or part-time (about 30 hours/week) employment for this role.

  • Support the Board with their giving, networking, and participation in Climable’s fundraising events and campaigns
  • Oversee the preparation of grant applications, proposals, and letters of interest alongside team members
  • Collaborate with staff to write and edit grant applications
  • Monitor the effectiveness of development operations, identifying opportunities to further refine processes as necessary

  • Lead the coordination and strategy for our annual fundraiser
  • Manage and update our donor management system
  • Coordinate venue scheduling and logistics for occasional in-person events
  • Manage interns as needed, providing coaching and support

Operations and Program Management:

  • Support the internship and fellowship hiring, recruiting, and onboarding processes
  • Develop a volunteer engagement program and manage volunteers
  • Lead some of our educational programs with a focus on energy efficiency education (Mass Save) and community resilience
  • Support stakeholder engagement efforts on behalf of clients which could include arranging event space, supporting event logistics, raising awareness, and more
  • Represent Climable at events, fundraisers, and professional development opportunities
