Our Mission and People: Native Prairies Association of Texas (NPAT) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit accredited land trust dedicated to the conservation, restoration, and appreciation of native prairies, savannas, and other grasslands in Texas. www.texasprairie.org
We are committed to the highest standards of integrity in our land protection practices in accordance with the Land Trust Accreditation Commission standards. NPAT currently holds 18 conservation easements and manages 12 fee-simple properties totaling over 6,000 acres across Texas. NPAT has local chapters of prairie lovers in Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, the Fayette Prairie region, and central Texas.
As the Development Director, you will work with a passionate and dedicated team to expand prairie conservation across the state, focusing on the design and execution of a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support NPAT’s mission and initiatives. This leadership role involves working closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and program team to identify funding opportunities, build relationships with donors and stakeholders,
and oversee all fundraising activities. The Development Director will report directly to the Executive Director and play a key role in advancing NPAT’s growth and impact.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead Fundraising Strategies: Develop and direct annual development strategies, including annual giving campaigns, donor cultivation, planned giving, major gifts, special events, and project-specific campaigns.
- Track and analyze progress towards achieving revenue goals and adjust strategies as needed.
- Collaborate on Fundraising Plans: Work with NPAT staff and board to execute fundraising plans and meet financial projections. Ensure alignment with organizational goals and maximize fundraising potential.
- Manage Donor Relationships: Maintain a portfolio of donors, corporate supporters, and foundations.
- Develop and nurture relationships through a meaningful strategy, communicating NPAT’s mission, goals, and programs with authenticity and transparency.
- Build and maintain systems for cyclical giving campaigns, corporate support, and donor stewardship.
- Oversee Grant Management: Lead grant application efforts, including writing proposals and managing reports. Identify new funding opportunities, build relationships with funders, and maintain detailed records of awarded grants.
- Build Partnerships and Community Engagement: Establish and maintain positive relationships with donors, community members, partners, and stakeholders.
- Ensure DEIJ (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice) principles are integrated into fundraising and outreach efforts.
- Develop Fundraising Materials and Communication: Collaborate with staff to create messaging and collateral for fundraising campaigns and donor communications.
- Ensure consistency across all platforms, including social media, direct mail, and public outreach.
- Manage Financials and Compliance: Assist the Executive Director with developing and managing the annual fundraising and organizational budget.
- Ensure compliance with NPAT policies and Land Trust Alliance Standards and Practices.

You’re a great fit for this job if:
- You have at least five years of experience in fundraising, including major gift management. CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) is preferred.
- You’re skilled in developing and executing fundraising strategies with the ability to track and meet goals.
- You’re strong at cultivating and maintaining relationships with donors and stakeholders.
- You’re detail-oriented with excellent communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- You’re proficient in donor management software (e.g., Little Green Light), Microsoft Office, and other fundraising tools.
- You’re able to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- You’re available for occasional travel across the state.
- You enjoy working remotely, are self-motivated, and work well with limited direct supervision.
Compensation:
- $70,000-$80,000 depending on experience.
- Health and Dental Insurance Reimbursement.
- Each regular full-time employee will receive 12 paid holidays, to be based on federal holidays.
- 12 days of vacation per year for employees with less than one year service.
- Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
