Summary of Position: The Digital Engagement Manager leads Teatown’s organization-wide digital communication strategy, overseeing digital content, audience development, and multi-channel storytelling. This role manages social media, email communications, and eNews; develops editorial plans; and leverages analytics to deepen community engagement. The position ensures that mission-driven messaging is cohesive, strategic, and aligned with institutional goals.

Reporting To: Assistant Director of External Relations

Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Strategic Communications Planning 

  • Charette with key team members to develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy that advances Teatown’s programming, fundraising, and community engagement goals. 
  • Create and manage editorial calendars for cross-department content planning. 
  • Guide organization-wide messaging to ensure consistency and clarity. 

Digital Communications & Social Media 

  • Manage content creation, posting, and engagement across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging platforms. 
  • Grow digital audiences through storytelling, campaigns, partnerships, and data-informed insights. 
  • Ensure that digital content reflects current programs, science initiatives, and organizational priorities. 

Email & Direct Audience Engagement 

  • Write and produce eNews, targeted e-blasts, automated journeys, and segmented communications. 
  • Analyze email performance to refine strategies and increase engagement.

Audience Insights & Analytics 

  • Use analytics tools to track growth, engagement, and reach across channels. 
  • Develop audience segmentation strategies to better target communications and broaden participation. 

Content Development & Storytelling 

  • Collaborate with education and science staff to source stories, visuals, and impact data. 
  • Produce clear, compelling content that elevates Teatown’s mission and enhances public understanding. 

Brand Stewardship 

  • Ensure consistent brand voice, tone, and visual alignment across digital channels. 
  • Support staff in adopting communication best practices and contributing content to the organization’s strategy. 

Marketing 

  • Develop strategic marketing plans for programs, seasonal offerings, fundraising efforts, and audience engagement initiatives. 
  • Oversee digital advertising strategy, including paid social, search, and audience targeting efforts. 
  • Write and refine messaging for campaigns, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and audience insights. 
  • Track and analyze marketing performance data across digital channels to inform strategy and future planning. 

Photography & Video 

  • Produce digital-ready photo and video content optimized for social media, website, and email channels. 
  • Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and partner photographers to source diverse visual content. 
  • Edit and adapt photo/video materials into reels, stories, short-form videos, and digital storytelling pieces. 
  • Ensure all visual content aligns with brand voice, accessibility standards, and platform best practices.

Event Promotion 

Develop digital promotional campaigns for major events, including EagleFest, Pancake Brunch, PlantFest, and seasonal programs 

Position Requirements/Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in communications strategy, digital engagement, or content development. 
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across platforms. 
  • Familiarity with analytics tools and audience-growth strategies. 
  • Demonstrated success in managing social media and email communications. 
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Graphic design experience and demonstrated proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or comparable design tools 
  • Excellent writing, editing and interpersonal communications skills. 
  • Website development, editing and content management experience 
  • Nonprofit organization experience or significant understanding of the nonprofit environment. 
  • Willingness to work occasional irregular hours, including some weekends, evenings, and/or holidays. 
  • This position requires physical activities such as hiking on outdoor trails with varied terrain. 
  • Valid driver’s license required. Master’s degree
