Core Responsibilities:

• Program and operational management: Oversee district programs, ensuring alignment with annual and long-range goals. This includes managing daily operations and coordinating with staff, other agencies, and the public.
• Financial management: Develop and manage the district’s annual budget, oversee financial accounts, and work with financial committees.
• Strategic planning and implementation: Prepare, review, and update strategic and annual work plans. Implement district policies and programs to conserve natural resources.
• Grant writing and funding: Develop funding proposals and grants to support district programs and projects.
• Public relations and education: Act as the main liaison to the media and public, explaining the district’s purpose and programs. Organize and coordinate public information, education, and related activities.
• Technical assistance: Help provide technical assistance to landowners and governmental agencies with conservation practices.
• Board coordination: Provide information to the Board of Supervisors to aid in decision-making and carry out its policies.
• Contract administration: Negotiate and administer contracts for environmental projects with landowners and contractors.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• A minimum of a high school diploma and 2-3 years of non-profit, educational, governmental, or office experience.
• Experience in Program or natural resource management.
• A knowledge of land and water conservation practices.
• Familiarity with grant writing and budget management.
• Ability to work with diverse groups, including landowners, government agencies, and the public.
• Must be able to pass a federal background check and possess a valid Colorado driver’s license.
