About the Fellowship
ECEF Campaign Volunteer Fellows are volunteers who take on a deeper role in our campaign to pass Measure 20-388, while gaining hands-on experience in climate justice organizing, ballot initiative campaigns, and community engagement through movement art and creative practices. 50% of time will be spent on voter outreach and 50% of time will be spent engaging in educational opportunities and art workshops. Fellows are expected to volunteer 5-15 hours a week with set but flexible hours of engagement. This is a 6 week program, beginning in October and lasting through mid-November. Fellows will be accepted on a rolling basis

Community Engagement 50%

  • Learn the fundamentals of grassroots organizing to build political power
  • Learn about Ballot Measure 20-388 and the campaign strategy
  • Educate Community members about Ballot Measure 20-388; participate in direct outreach to community through canvassing, phone banking, and tabling
  • Recruit students at your schools, universities, and community spaces to participate in the campaign

Arts & Creative Organizing 50%

  • Learn how art and creative tactics can support movements for economic and environmental justice
  • Participate in banner-making art workshop(s) with local artist Jack. Evenings include food, drinks, and an opportunity to meet the ECEF Field Team and Steering Committee members 
  • Conduct banner drops across the city of Eugene to energize the campaign
  • Tour 350 Eugene’s movement art collection
  • Participate in weekly ECEF Campaign Volunteer Fellows virtual team meetings

Schedule

Each Fellow will complete 1-2 canvassing, phonebanking, or tabling shifts a week to be scheduled with Co-Field Director. Canvassing shift(s) will be scheduled according to each Fellow’s availability, with the goal of establishing regular weekly shift/s while remaining flexible as schedules change. Fellows will also participate in 1 virtual team meeting a week.

Each fellow will also attend 1-3 banner making workshops led by Jack Jackson. Workshops will be held at the Growers Market and will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on October 14th, 21st, and 28th. At the beginning of each workshop, a different Campaign Staff or Steering Committee member will speak briefly to introduce themselves to the Fellows and to kick off the event. Pizza, drinks, and snacks will be provided. Fellows are also encouraged to participate in at least 1 banner-drop, where we reveal the banners to the public in different locations around Eugene. Banner drops will be scheduled throughout the Fellowship, with dates and locations TBD. Fellows will also have the opportunity to tour 350 Eugene’s collection of movement art, date and time TBD.
