The Institute for Regional Conservation (IRC) seeks a part-time intern to assist with the development of our Natives For Your Neighborhood (NFYN) program, an innovative free online tool used by the Florida public since 2004 to provide zip code specific native plant lists and information for native gardening and ecosystem restoration. We seek an intern to contribute to the NYFN program specifically in the areas of species-specific data acquisition, entry into MS SQL, and curation. Other job duties may include the development of outreach materials and weekend outreach events.
An ideal candidate would be a college student, recent graduate or other interested person looking to gain experience in the development of science-based ecosystem restoration guidance, restoration program organization, and scientific data management. Starting pay rate is $16-18/hour, negotiable based on experience. The position will be for 5-10 hours per week for up to one year.
A private non-profit organization, The Institute for Regional Conservation (IRC) is dedicated to the protection, restoration, and long-term management of biodiversity on a regional basis, and to the prevention of local extinctions of rare plants, animals, and ecosystems. Based in Florida, USA, IRC works on conservation research and action throughout South Florida, the Caribbean and beyond. Since 1984, its work is premised on an innovative idea of conservation that seeks to protect and restore viable populations of all plant and animal species within a region, rather than focusing only on charismatic animals or plants with narrow global ranges.
