Nelson Land Management is an ecological and vegetation management contractor located in rural Greenview Illinois. Projects we have worked on include remnant prairie, savanna, woodland, and wetland restoration projects. Our clients vary from state, municipal, corporate, and private entities. 

We are seeking a full-time permanent employee to join our crew. We don't lay-off in the winter and keep folks busy all year long. Thank you for your interest in this position. Description follows:

Headquarters: 611 S State Street, Greenview, IL 

Pay: $16-$18 /hour depending on education/experience 


Upon Hire: Group health insurance. Six paid holidays. 

After Six Months: Forty hours paid personal time-off. 

After One Year: Retirement plan with company match. 


Vegetation Management: Brush clearing, herbicide application, prescribed burning 


  • HS Diploma. Those with Bachelor’s degree OR related field experience (forestry, biology, agriculture or other natural resources-related field) will be given preference. 
  • Ability to perform physical work, sometimes under adverse conditions or in inclement weather; 
  • Ability to operate various types of equipment in a safe and efficient manner (e.g.; chainsaw, brush saw, UTV, water pumps, herbicide sprayers, etc.); 
  • Possess, or ability to obtain, related licenses such as first aid, CPR, basic wildland firefighter 130/190 etc. (provided by NLM, if needed) 
  • Possess, or ability to obtain possession of, IL Department of Agriculture Commercial Pesticide Operator’s license 


  • Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of experience in natural resources related field 


  • Personal pair of steel toe boots 
  • Leather gloves 

*All other personal protective equipment supplied by employer: i.e. disposable ear plugs, chainsaw chaps, hard hat, etc 


The candidate may work in variable weather conditions, at remote locations, on difficult and hazardous terrain, and under physically demanding circumstances. These conditions require: 

  • considerable physical exertion and/or muscular strain 
  • 8 -10 hour days in isolated settings 
  • occasional overnight stays in hotels 
  • ability to tolerate insects, poison ivy, and other unpleasant aspects of nature
