Duties:

• Complete restoration activities including: brush removal, TSI, invasive species removal, tree planting, native seed planting, prescribed fire
• Use GIS applications to access and define project sites, and report progress on projects
• Perform maintenance on equipment
• Prescribed fire, including: following burn plans, ignitions, line crew duties, extinguishing active fire, communications

Skills:

• Chainsaw / brushsaw use and maintenance
• Plant and tree identification
• Herbicide application, formulation
• Prescribed fire (ignitions, communications, etc.)
• Tree felling/bucking
• UTV use and maintenance
• Operating a trailer
• Navigating steep and exposed terrain
• Radio communications
• PPE use
• Reporting, data tracking
• Hand tool and power tool operation

Requirements:

• Read/write, speak/understand English
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Ability to work outdoors in various, often uncomfortable, weather conditions
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Work on steep, hazardous terrain
• Lift 50lbs or more
• Maintain NWCG FF2 certification
• Maintain DATCP Commercial Applicator license
• Maintain FFISTA SAWW 1
• Operate equipment including: power tools, hand tools, UTV, truck and trailer
• Preform prescribed fire activities
• Interpret detailed instructions
• Safely and effectively use/handle herbicides

Preferred candidate:

• Experience in natural resources field
• Biology or related degree (graduated or enrolled)
• Experienced with chainsaw and brushsaw, basic plant and tree identification, herbicide usage and handling

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 per week
