Ecological Technician

Native Resource Preservation LLC is looking to fill multiple positions for our Twin Cities location who will assist with ecological restoration projects throughout Minnesota.

Hired individual(s) will work alongside a crew conducting prairie and forest restoration tasks such as priority species selection, prescribed fire, brush removal, invasive species identification and removal, stacking and burning brush piles, etc.

Preferred Job Skills:

  • Ability to work well with a team and adapt to changing priorities and tasks.
  • Experience operating basic hand tools and smaller equipment such as backpack sprayers, augers, chainsaws, and/or brushcutters.
  • Ability to traverse wet and/or rugged terrain in diverse, sometimes inclement, weather conditions while carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Experience with native and non-native plant identification.
  • Not required: Experience operating equipment such as ATVs/UTVs, tractors, chippers, and/or skid steers.
  • Ability to consistently have an awareness of safety for themselves and our crew.
  • Basic First Aid, CPR, and/or have basic prescribed fire training.
  • Experience in map reading, GIS, and/or operating a GPS.
  • Experience with herbicide handling, application, and application equipment. 
  • Basic small engine maintenance and repair.
  • Not required: Firefighter Type 2
  • Required: Valid Driver's License with the ability to drive a company vehicle and an acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Manage independent tasks and follow direction.

Individual(s) hired will be expected to display competency, a strong work ethic, and a passion for ecological restoration.

Individual(s) hired will be required to obtain to following within 1 month:

  • Individual(s) will be required to obtain Commercial Pesticide Applicator's Certifications in Categories A, F, and J within 3 months.
  • DOT Health Card

Once individual(s) meets and exceeds expectations after initial 3 month probationary period, a full time, permanent position will be open for review.  Full time, permanent positions are eligible for Health Coverage, 401k, and Paid Time Off.

General work week will consist of 4, 10 hour days and may include irregular hours to meet project specifications and deadlines.

Overtime and weekend work is available.

We conduct resource restoration projects across the state of Minnesota and individual(s) should expect overnight travel up to 50%. Travel includes over night per diem for lodging and food.

Per hour wage is dependent on experience.
