Since 1974, Orange County Department of Education's Inside the Outdoors program has inspired 3.5 million students across Orange County, CA through hands-on environmental science field trips and classroom programs. Today, we serve over 100,000 students annually through our NGSS-aligned programming. Our mission is to empower students, teachers, parents, and the community to explore natural areas and expand their knowledge, understanding, and stewardship of the environment.
We are seeking a strong writer and collaborative leader to serve as Education Support Manager with our team. This key position will assist in the planning, organization, design, and implementation of field trips and other educational programs, including community science and participatory science programming. They will also support ITO’s partnership work with municipal partners, funders, and Inside the Outdoors Foundation.
Duties include:
- Assist in the planning, organization, and implementation of Inside the Outdoors programs.
- Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals, objectives, and strategic plan.
- Develop curriculum, administrative manuals, and forms.
- Assist in writing grant proposals and reports.
- Create surveys, analyze data, and compile reports to assess program effectiveness.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and coach assigned staff.
Minimum Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, environmental science, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Two (2) years of prior experience working with an environment education program or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- One (1) year of experience leading the design of standards-aligned environmental education field trips, collaborating with funding partners, writing grant proposals and reports, and/or supervising environmental education staff is highly desired.
