Kendall County Forest Preserve District is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Environmental Education Instructor to aid in supporting operations and deliver environmental education programing. This position plays a key role in leading the District’s various environmental education programing including school programs, public programs, and camps, as well as assist the Environmental Education and Outreach Manager in organizational, curriculum, and communication tasks.

Essential Functions:

A successful candidate for this position must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and provide high-quality support for Kendall County Forest Preserve District operations under the supervision of the District’s Environmental Education and Outreach Manager. Essential job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Aid in developing curriculum and programs relevant to the goals and mission of the District
  • Aid in providing outreach and coordination to meet the projected program goals of the District
  • Provide and facilitate programs
  • Provide administrative assistance in record keeping and invoicing of programs
  • Participate in in program set-up, tear-down, and cleanup
  • Travel to District preserves and off-site venues for program delivery

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in the field of education or environmental sciences or equivalent experience in the field of education or environmental sciences; may be actively pursuing a degree in the related fields
  • Experience with instructing children in an educational setting
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Valid and current driver’s license is required

Work Schedule:

Average hours: This position averages 25 hours per week on an annual basis with seasonal variability.

Schedule will vary based on operational needs, majority of hours are Tuesday through Friday, with Saturdays required based on program schedule.

Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
