Green River Preserve's School of Environmental Education is our fall & spring program for public and private school groups, bringing students into the heart of the Blue Ridge mountains to inspire environmental stewards through a joyful connection to nature.
The Hike Leader will lead two hikes per day (morning and afternoon) with up to 14 students and 2 parent/teacher chaperones. Each hike will feature a water feature (waterfall or river swimming hole), amazing views of the mountain range, or cave exploring. Our curriculum is flexible to each leader's interest and specialties, and leaders will be trained on local flora, fauna, and phenomena. In the evenings, Hike Leaders will also facilitate night programming, from Council Fires where stories are told and songs are sung, to team-building challenges, to night hike explorations.
You will be provided staff-only housing, meals while in programming, and use of laundry facilities throughout your contract in addition to your salary.
Wilderness First Aid preferred, some experience delivering environmental education required, valid driver's license strongly preferred, additional pay for CDL Class B. Let us know if you have climbing experience!

Fall SEE Training Days - Wednesday, August 27th & Thursday, August 28th
*Additional mentored trail time for new hike leaders available pre-season.
Adult Camp Weekend - Friday, August 29th through Sunday morning, August 31st
Week 1: Wednesday, September 3rd - Friday, September 5th
Week 2: Tuesday, September 9th - Friday, September 12th
Week 3: Tuesday, September 16th - Friday, September 19th
Week 4: Monday, September 22nd - Thursday, September 25th
Week 5: Tuesday, September 30th - Friday, October 3rd
FARM FEAST Fundraiser: October 4th & 5th
Week 6: Tuesday, October 7th - Friday, October 10th
