Environmental Educator and Operations Manager

Clean Valley Council is seeking an enthusiastic individual for the role of Environmental Educator and Operations Manger. The qualified candidate will provide PreK-12 th grade and adult environmental education and office operations management.

As a vital team member in both the office and community, the candidate will act as an educator for public, private and homeschooled classes, events and programs for PreK
to adults, as well as conduct operational management within an office setting.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teach and develop PreK-12 and adult environmental education classes, programs, events
  • Assist with hosted/supported events
  • Conduct supply inventory and purchase of supplies
  • Manage the Adopt-A-Street Program and Anytime litter cleanup programs
  • Carry out reporting and data management
  • Manage mail, deposits, and bill paying
  • Answer phone inquiries
  • Maintain donor spreadsheets and create acknowledgement letters
  • Assist with interns/volunteers
  • Perform any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our organization’s values

Qualifications

  • Passion for environmental education and a desire to support a nonprofit organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field and minimum of 3 years’ professional teaching experience or equivalent
  • Strong project and program management skills
  • Knowledge of Virginia’s Science Standards of Learning
  • Experience creating education programs, events, and workshops
  • Experience completing reports and data submission
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and public speaking skills.
  • Proven ability to generate professional quality written materials.
  • Strong computer skills
  • Goal-oriented, attention to detail, and ability to motivate both adults and students.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and time management
  • Ability to work with a small team to achieve big goals
  • Knowledge of local recycling, waste reduction, and stormwater pollution issues
  • Must have own transportation and be able to transport teaching and event materials
  • Able to walk, stand and lift 50 pounds and perform duties and responsibilities
