Earth Conservation Corpsis a nonprofit youth development and environmental service organization. The Earth Conservation Corps provides hands-on environmental education, job training and community service programs for people of all ages from diverse backgrounds, with an emphasis on serving high-risk youth.

Position Description  

Reports to: President and CEO

The Earth Conservation Corps is seeking a highly motivated environmental educator to lead our dynamic hands-on Anacostia Explorers Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience (MWEE) and to assist in leading our environmental education science programs this summer.

This Anacostia Explorers Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience (MWEE) will focus on the aquatic environment, the Anacostia River, fisheries science, and water quality. A key objective is to incorporate the expertise of our science-based partners, including the U.S. EPA, U.S.Geological Survey (USGS) and DC Fisheries, both of whom have expressed interest in contributing their time and knowledge.

In addition,our program supports workforce development by engaging Earth Conservation Corps members in the implementation of the program alongside staff and partners. The refreshed curriculum will not only strengthen the Anacostia Explorers MWEE but also generate meaningful data for ongoing use by partners such as USGS and DC Fisheries.

Commitment: July 2025 - September 2025 

Status: Contractor position, full time 40 hours a week

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

  • Experience and/or knowledge on Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience format
  • Experience in environmental education
  • Ability to create educational content.
  • Experience working with elementary and/or high school youth
  • Experience working in diverse settings (public schools, urban communities, under-resourced communities, etc.) with diverse populations 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team 
  • Ability to pass a background check.
