This position will assist in the coordination of programs to recruit, retain, and reactivate (R3) hunters and trappers, and instill a conservation ethic in New Yorkers through wildlife-related recreation. Specific duties include:

  • Coordinate and oversee the Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BOW) program under the supervision of the Hunter Education Program (HEP) Administrator within the Division of Fish and Wildlife (DFW).
  • Plan and implement a minimum of 2 large BOW Workshops, annually. BOW workshops host between 50-130 adult women in a hands-on, interactive outdoor skills learning experience.
  • Oversee a team of 50 BOW volunteer instructors.
  • Assist with grants, budgets, and reporting for the BOW program.
  • Identify strategically accessible and affordable locations/venues for future BOW events.
  • Work with Bureau of Wildlife Communications Coordinator to produce videos and social media content to recruit participants in BOW and Beyond BOW (BBOW) events.
  • Oversee Beyond BOW (BBOW) program by supervising BBOW contract staff and cooperate on delivery of BBOW events.
  • R3 (Recruitment, Retention, Reactivation of Hunters and Trappers) Strategic Planning & Coordination.
  • Work across Bureaus and programs to develop a DFW R3 strategic plan.
  • Coordinate implementation of priority R3 activities among and across Bureaus.
  • Oversee Hunter Education Program's HuntFishNY Events.
  • Promote HuntFishNY Events and track deliverables.
  • Work with the HEP to develop resources for instructors and volunteers to run. HuntFishNY events, including sponsored pheasant hunts and mentored hunts.
