The Office of Kentucky Nature Preserves is hiring a data specialist to work with plant community spatial data. This is a joint position with the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS). This is a Grant-Funded Time-Limited position with full benefits with a starting salary of $35,000. It is currently funded for 5 years with a possibility for extension.

This position will be responsible for managing the agency’s county inventory database, reviewing the agency’s county natural area inventory files, performing quality control, and querying community data for upload into the natural heritage database (Biotics) as well as other geospatial and relational databases. Contingent upon other grants, the incumbent might also be assisting with field work involving qualitative and quantitative sampling of natural community occurrences, particularly wetlands throughout the state. Strong attention to detail is a must. A background in botany, experience in working with relational databases and basic GIS skills are preferred. 

Anticipated starting date is July 1st, 2019.
