Duties and Responsibilities The Range and Training Land (RTLA) Field Crew Leader works under the direction of the RTLA Coordinator. His primary responsibility is to manage the collection and maintenance of data in various inventory and monitoring projects as directed by the RTLA Coordinator.  During field season, the RTLA Field Crew Leader directs the day-to-day work of the seasonal field crews and ensures they have received the appropriate training in data collection techniques, safety, and operational requirements. The RTLA Field Crew Leader my also assist the RTLA Coordinator in analyzing data and writing reports as needed.  

Experience and Qualifications

The minimum Qualifications for this labor category are a Bachelor’s degree in a natural resources field, demonstrated ability to conduct scientific inventory and monitoring surveys in the field, excellent written and communication skills, a minimum one (1) year field experience conducting inventorying and monitoring projects, strong native flora identification skills, and the ability to perform under severe environmental field conditions in rugged/difficult terrain.  Ability to obtain specialty certification/licenses or training courses as required such as required to participate in prescribed fire and pesticide application events.  a minimum one (1) year of experience using ESRI ArcMap 10.3 and ArcPad 10.2 or higher. Previous Integrated Training Area Management (ITAM) experience preferred.  

Special Job Requirements

Must have proof of US citizenship. Current valid state drivers license and clean driving record. Ability to traverse rough terrain in extreme weather conditions.  Ability to operate 4x4 vehicles safely on rough trails/roads/terrain.
