We have spent the past year undergoing a rebrand process and are almost ready to launch our new name and visual identity. This spring and summer, the Vermont Events Planning Intern will work directly with VT State Director Shaina Kasper and other staff to successfully launch our new brand in Vermont. This internship will oversee launch party planning details from start to finish. Prior events planning experience is not required, but a plus. Intern must demonstrate a commitment to environmental issues, possess strong communication skills, have project management experience, be detail-oriented, and be excited to take the lead on this project. Intern responsibilities will include:

Guest Coordination

  • Create and send out event invitations
  • Follow up with guest-list to recruit and confirm attendance
  • Plan for and trouble-shoot guest accessibility and other needs
  • Thank guests post event for their support of our work

Menu Coordination

  • Develop a plan for food at the event
  • Do outreach to local farms, restaurants, and groceries to secure local food and drink donations
  • Research local catering options to recommend to staff
  • Liaise with caterer for event menu
  • Follow up with thank you letters to donors post event

Silent Auction Coordination

  • Develop a plan for a silent auction fundraiser at the launch event
  • Generate $1000 in silent auction donations
  • Track donations and interactions on ongoing basis
  • Manage the silent auction at the event
  • Follow up with thank you letters to donors post event

Venue and other event details

  • Design an event program and decorations
  • Assist staff in coordinating details with the event venue
  • Assist staff with day-of event details

This is an unpaid internship. We often work with students to apply for scholarships or course credit. Minimum 12 hour a week commitment. Preferred timeline is May through late July/early August, though current openings also available.
