The Eastern Nevada Landscape Coalition (ENLC) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the advancement of environmental conservation through projects, research, education, and partnerships throughout the West.

ENLC is hiring one (1) Executive Director to continue ENLC’s work throughout the West. Under the general direction of the Board of Trustees, the Executive Director provides professional, ethical, and trusted leadership in the administration and execution of the policies, objectives of the organization, and to effectively and efficiently manage and direct ENLC operations. Through these efforts, this position makes a meaningful impact on the environment, maintaining the health of our native landscapes on public and private lands. 

The Executive Director will encounter a variety of opportunities for professional development, including gaining insight to the operational policies and procedures of a growing environmental conservation non-profit organization; exposure to training and leading a team with varied experience in environmental conservation work for a non-profit, and approaches for supporting them; strengthening interactive skills through communication with diverse project partners; and the ability to effectively support the success of a mission-driven non-profit organization. This exciting role contributes to ENLC’s significant positive impacts within the fields of environmental research, education, and conservation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in a science related field such as biology, ecology, environmental studies, natural resources or rangeland conservation, OR a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Administration and a minor in these science related fields or in agriculture. Additionally, they will need a minimum of 4 years of experience in the management of a business or organization involved in natural resources, environmental sciences, conservation or agriculture having a minimum of 5 employees.

A valid Nevada driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one prior to employment, and a resident of or willingness to relocate to ENLC’s headquarters in Ely, NV, are also required.

WAGE AND BENEFITS: $74,000 to $83,000 a year, depending on experience. Benefits include a health insurance, a voluntary 403(b) retirement plan, competitive Paid Time Off accrual, and eligibility to Pro Deals, such as Outdoor ProLink.

SCHEDULE: This is a full-time permanent position working 40 hours per week. The work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm. There may be occasional weekends when work is required, depending on grant and report deadlines, field crew issues, education and outreach events, and other unforeseen circumstances.

ABOUT ENLC: The ENLC has been in business for over two decades and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and is headquartered in Ely, NV. Through cooperative agreements, grants, contracts, and memberships, ENLC works diligently with its partners to restore these fragile, yet resilient, ecosystems of the West.

ABOUT THE ELY, NV AREA: Nestled in the heart of the eastern Nevada’s Great Basin, ENLC is headquartered in Ely, NV. While the area is remote and sparsely populated, eastern Nevada has incredible outdoor recreation opportunities for the adventurous, including over 700,000 acres of designated wilderness to explore. Hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, rock climbing, rock hounding, backcountry skiing, disc golfing, fishing, and hunting are a small sampling of the area’s outdoor activities.

Over 90% of the county is publicly owned. This includes lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management, US Forest Service, and the National Park Service. Great Basin National Park is an hour from Ely, providing spectacular hikes, vistas, and camping retreats from 6,200 to 13,159 ft, the summit of Mt. Wheeler. In addition, the Ely BLM district covers 11 million acres, including portions of the Mojave and Great Basin Deserts, as well as higher elevations typified by pinyon-juniper woodlands, scrub-oak, montane conifer, and aspen stands. No matter your preferred outdoor activity, eastern Nevada has something for everyone.
