Position Overview: 

  • Title: Executive Director
  • Type: Full-time, Exempt
  • Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 (commensurate with qualifications)
  • Benefits: Generous PTO, health care, retirement, childcare, continuing education

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Lead a diverse team, fostering effective teamwork and staff leadership. Advise the Board on all aspects of activities, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Program Planning: Oversee planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs and special projects. Serve as liaison to government agencies for funding and development.
  • Operational Management: Ensure efficient daily operations, develop operational plans, and draft policies.
  • Financial Management: Develop fundraising plans, oversee funding proposals, and manage a $600,000 annual budget.
  • Human Resources: Implement HR policies, recruit skilled staff, and foster a positive work environment.
  • Community Relations: Build relationships with community groups, funders, and organizations to advance our mission.
  • Risk Management: Assess and manage risks to the organization's people, property, finances, and brand.


  • 5+ years of senior leadership experience in a similar setting (e.g., botanical garden, museum, nature center).
  • Expertise in one or more of ICG’s program areas (public garden leadership, early childhood education, playwork, etc.) with an interest in all areas.
  • Strong fundraising experience; capital campaign experience preferred.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace that reflects our EDIA goals.
  • Experience in financial management and strategy implementation.
  • Technical proficiency in web-based communication tools and office suites.
