A Great Organization Looking for An Amazing Leader: Friends of Nevada Wilderness is seeking an outstanding leader to serve as its next Executive Director — one who will bring inspiration, experience, passion, and commitment to guide the organization through today's public lands challenges.
The Executive Director provides organizational leadership and direction, with overall responsibility for staf ing, compensation, and oversight of a nearly $2 million budget. Friends of Nevada Wilderness has a strong operational staff that manages day-to-day operations and the stewardship program, freeing the Executive Director to focus on strategy, fundraising and external communications. Working with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director leads campaign strategy, policy development, legislative conservation efforts and elected leadership engagement; serves as the organization's primary spokesperson and oversees communications that advance campaign work and visibility; and builds strong relationships with partners, stakeholders, donors, and foundations.
About the Work: For over 40 years, Friends of Nevada Wilderness has helped permanently protect over 6.9 million acres of Nevada's mountains, deserts, and dark skies, establishing the organization as a leader in public lands policy in the state. In addition to its advocacy campaigns that work to protect public lands through legislation and administrative efforts, the organization's nationally-recognized stewardship program keeps trails maintained and access open across Nevada's wild places for hikers, hunters, ranchers and others seeking an experience in nature. From local stakeholders, the halls of Congress to remote trailheads, Friends of Nevada Wilderness unites policy expertise, public education, and boots-on-the-ground stewardship to ensure Nevada's wildest places remain wild and cared for — not just for this generation, but for all who come after.
