TITLE: Facilities Assistant
LOCATION: Primary location at McLane Center in Concord with secondary location at Massabesic Center in Auburn (twice a week, but may vary)
COMPENSATION: $16-$17 an hour, commensurate with experience. This position also includes Nature Store discounts, and access to Pro Deals.
HOURS: 20 hours per week, part-time, non-exempt (hourly paid) support staff position. Schedule may vary according to needs.
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 4+ hours, days. Potential for flexible work schedule after probationary period. Additional hours may be required as necessary.
FUNCTION: This position will support the mission of New Hampshire Audubon: to protect New Hampshire’s natural environment for wildlife and for people, by providing custodial and maintenance support for the overall cleanliness and upkeep of the McLane Center and Massabesic Center and assisting with event and function room set ups and breakdowns.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
Initiative is expected for this role as they will mainly be working on their own to maintain and follow a weekly custodial schedule including, but not limited to:
- Vacuum and dust common areas and offices
- Clean windows, doors, countertops, brochure racks, and other fixtures in public areas
- Clean, disinfect, and mop multiple kitchen areas, including appliances, such as refrigerators, microwaves, sinks, and dishwashers
- Consolidate and remove trash and recyclables
- Clean, disinfect, and mop multiple restroom areas
- Tend to the regular maintenance needs of the composting toilets
- Stock paper products and soap in restrooms on a regular basis
- Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and bathroom products
- Communicate cleaning and maintenance needs and issues to supervisors and other coworkers
- Maintain inbox and communications via email
- Set up and break down tables and chairs for events and function room needs according to weekly schedules
- Greet and work with hired contractors for maintenance projects
- Maintain a friendly demeanor when interacting with staff or members of the public
- Demonstrate a commitment to environmental ethics and practices
- Open, close, and secure buildings as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned, including occasional grounds maintenance such as spreading salt, shoveling, etc.
LEADERSHIP: Reports to the Maintenance Coordinator

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School graduate or GED required. One to three years of custodial, cleaning, and/or building maintenance or transferrable experience preferred with a demonstrated ability to make independent and coordinated decisions.
Skills, Traits, and Characteristics Necessary for Success: Requires exceptional interpersonal skills, attention to detail, good problem-solving skills, solid communication skills, and a high degree of organization. Must have a positive attitude, ability to work independently, and a professional and courteous manner. Must have basic computer skills including familiarity with email and Microsoft Office products.
Physical Demands: To perform the essential functions of the position, the following applies: requires standing, stretching, bending, walking, lifting and transporting a minimum of 50 pounds. Must be able to climb stairs, be capable of performing multiple tasks and function in a fast-paced environment.
