Position Summary

• Position Title: Eugene Clean Energy Fund Field Director 
• Salary:​ $5,000-5,500 monthly depending on experience 
• Timeline:

• Duration: Immediate start through November 2026. 
• Location and Travel: The position is full-time and based in Eugene. Candidates outside of the Eugene area who are willing to relocate to Eugene for the duration of the campaign will be considered. You may need to travel for events and  meetings.
• Schedule: The position involves working days, evenings and weekends as necessary. .

About the Eugene Clean Energy Fund Initiative

Local climate, health, housing, labor, and social and racial justice organizations* have come together to launch the Eugene Clean Energy Fund (ECEF) Initiative, planned for a vote on the November 2026 ballot. By establishing a business license fee on the gross profits of Eugene’s wealthiest businesses, ECEF would fund programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and household energy burden; expand public-owned renewable energy, transportation, and other green infrastructure; create high-road jobs in the green economy; and build community-wide climate resiliency, especially for Eugene’s frontline and historically marginalized areas. 

Field Director Job Description:

ECEF is hiring a full-time Field Director for the 2026 election. This is a position for an experienced operative who will be working with multiple layers of staff and running an ambitious field program to support the Eugene Clean Energy Fund ballot measure. The Field Director will report directly to the ECEF Campaign Manager, with an anticipated start date of 08/10/2026 .

The Field Director will oversee the campaign’s coordinated field effort, which is focused on persuading and turning out climate motivated voters to vote yes on our ballot measure. The Field Director will collaborate closely with community partners to ensure that all of Eugene’s communities are engaged and empowered in order to be successful this November.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Design and implement a City-wide field plan
• Support the Campaign Manager, ECEF Steering Committee, and broader coalition to develop a campaign plan that builds our base of supporters and leads to victory
• Train, and manage field organizers and paid canvassing staff
• Supervise and mentor field organizers 
• Ensure field staff and field programs comply with campaign finance rules and requirements. 
• Work with Campaign Manager to develop and execute a volunteer voter outreach program, including door-to-door canvass, phone bank, text operations, and ballot parties, etc.
• Lead in field work implementation including writing scripts, cutting turf, and setting up phone banks, texting, and validator call operations, utilizing tools such as Votivate, VAN, Scale to Win, etc.
• Create staff and volunteer training materials
• Create aspirational goals and coach organizers to success
• Develop appropriate metrics and manage systems of accountability for staff and volunteers
• Collaborate with and facilitate communication between field team and member organizations and partner campaigns
• Facilitate communication between the field team and the rest of the campaign
• Analyze data and modeling to create and track progress in voter contact universes
• Leverage innovative voter contact tools and resources and integrate them into the field plan
• Work with Campaign Manager to develop and monitor plan strategies, priorities, and all aspects of campaign vision, strategy, timeline, communication, community outreach, and timetables
• Create and maintain training materials, guides, script templates, and additional materials to ensure campaign staff and volunteers are successful while using campaign resources and tools
• Helping to organize fundraising events and strategy, as needed
• Reporting in weekly check-ins to Campaign Manager 
• Additional duties as assigned by the Campaign Manager

Skills and Qualifications

• At least three cycles of political campaign experience, including at least two cycles in field and at least one cycle managing paid staff and/or volunteers
• Experience training, supporting, and managing staff or volunteers in an electoral or community engagement capacity
• Proficiency using Votebuilder (VAN), including turf cutting and creating phone banks
• Demonstrated commitment to electing progressive candidates/ballot measures up and down the ballot
• Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle
• Ability to work long or irregular hours (including evenings and weekends)
• Experience with multi-faceted and broad-based planning processes
• Excellent analytical skills and sound judgment
• Strong verbal and writing skills; the ability to communicate persuasively in a charged atmosphere
• Must be a results-oriented self-starter able to work under pressure on several projects at one time
• Fluency in a second language, preferably Spanish is encouraged
• Commitment to social and economic justice
• Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds with a proven commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative team culture for others. 
• Preferred but not required: At least two cycles of political fundraising and/or campaign finance experience
• Preferred but not required: At least one cycle of work specifically on local or state ballot initiatives
• Experience working in Eugene’s political landscape
