About the Role:

We’re seeking an experienced field ecologist to join our growing team. This position requires a combination of ecological fieldwork and office-based data management and report writing. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, collaborating on projects with real-world impact, and getting hands-on experience in ecological monitoring and management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct ecological fieldwork, including wetland delineations, vegetation surveys, habitat assessments, and restoration monitoring
• Perform threatened and endangered species surveys and construction monitoring
• Support habitat restoration and invasive species management projects
• Collect and manage field data using GPS, mobile apps, and spreadsheets
• Prepare maps, reports, and assist with permit documents
• Collaborate with project managers and senior scientists on a variety of ecological projects
• Participate in seasonal field projects, which may include travel and physically demanding work

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in ecology, biology, environmental science, natural resources, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in ecological fieldwork, environmental consulting, or applied natural resource management.
• Working knowledge of wetland delineation methods, wildlife surveys, invasive species management, and ecological assessment techniques.
• Familiarity with plant identification in the Northeast US.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

• Proficiency with GPS data collection, ArcGIS, and Microsoft 365.
• Ability to identify birds by sight and sound, especially grassland and marsh birds.
• Familiarity with NYSDEC and federal environmental permitting processes.
• NYS Pesticide Applicator License
