JOB TITLE: Field Operations Coordinator

POSITION OVERVIEW 

The Field Operations Coordinator supports the Cumberland River Compact Compact across multiple programs in their field-based objectives. The Coordinator works closely with the Director of Field Operations, Crew Leaders, and Operations Managers. The Coordinator acts as a jack-of-all-trades for the Field Division, providing technical support, administrative assistance, and minor project execution. The FOC may provide daily supervision to the crew leaders and crew members. This position is 80-100% in the field, and may include two to three days acting as a crew leader. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

General (30%)

  • Assist Field Division Manager with the supervision of crews
  • Perform monthly Environmental Health and Safety inspections as assigned by Director of Field Operations
  • Ensure that the Field Team facility is stocked, clean, orderly and well maintained, including PPE station
  • Assists in event preparation and planning as it relates to field work and field materials
  • Acquisition of supplies and materials for various the shop and projects

Urban Forestry Operations (40%)

  • Assists Forestry Operations Manager as needed by working with crews on Root Nashville and Tree Maintenance programs
  • May include significant time in summer assisting with completion of tree watering contracts

Urban Waters Projects (20%)

  • Works closely with Urban Waters team and Field Division Manager to execute rain gardens, pocket prairies, depaves and other program practices
  • Perform or delegate regular cleanouts of litter traps and manage reporting
  • Oversee rain barrel construction, product inventory, and materials to meet needs of rain barrel sales schedule
  • Manage and oversee crews performing green infrastructure labor

Stream Restoration 

  • Work with Stream Restoration Program Managers and Director of Field Operations to plan and execute stream restoration projects
  • May assist in acquiring and handling materials
  • The amount of work devoted to this program may vary seasonally and is dependent on grant demands

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • This is a field position. A successful applicant will enjoy working outside through the  seasons. 
  • Ability to consistently lift 50 pounds. 
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and resourceful, with the ability to meet deadlines and  manage multiple tasks, assignments, and priorities. 
  • Experience with engines, pumps, trailers, trucks, etc.  is a plus but not required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, G Suites, and social media platforms
  • 2+ Years of industry or relative experience and training
  • Interest in environmental causes a plus
  • Quick learner on other software platforms and Google suite  
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including  staff, external partners, and nurseries 
  • Must be a team player and also be able to work independently 
  • Supervisory experience and confidence and leading, directing and coaching peers
