About the Role:

We’re seeking an entry-level Field Technician to support habitat restoration, ecological assessments, and vegetation management projects. This role is hands-on and physically active, with opportunities to contribute directly to meaningful conservation outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with invasive species management, including mechanical and chemical methods
  • Perform threatened and endangered species surveys and construction monitoring
  • Support habitat restoration and management projects, including planting/seeding
  • Conduct ecological fieldwork, including wetland delineations, vegetation surveys, habitat assessments, and restoration monitoring
  • Collect and manage field data using GPS, mobile apps, and spreadsheets
  • Aid with maps, reports, and permit documents
  • Collaborate with project managers and senior scientists on a variety of ecological projects
  • Participate in seasonal field projects, which includes travel and physically demanding work

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in ecology, biology, environmental science, natural resources, or a related field.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in ecological fieldwork, environmental consulting, or applied natural resource management.
  • Working knowledge of wildlife surveys, invasive species management, and ecological assessment techniques.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with plant identification in the Northeast US.
  • Proficiency with GPS data collection, ArcGIS, and Microsoft 365.
  • Ability to identify birds by sight and sound, especially grassland and marsh birds.
  • NYS Pesticide Applicator/Technician License
