Salary Range: $22-$25/hour, depending on experience and qualifications

About the Role:
We’re seeking an entry-level Field Technician to support habitat restoration and invasive species management. This role is hands-on and physically active, with opportunities to contribute directly to meaningful conservation outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with invasive species management, including mechanical and chemical methods
  • Support habitat restoration and management projects, including planting/seeding
  • Primarily conduct invasive species management, and may assist in other ecological fieldwork
  • Collect and manage field data using GPS, mobile apps, and spreadsheets
  • Aid with maps, reports, and permit documents
  • Collaborate with project managers and senior scientists on a variety of ecological projects
  • Participate in seasonal field projects, which includes travel and physically demanding work

Qualifications:
Required:

  • Associates degree in ecology, biology, environmental science, natural resources, or a related field
  • Working knowledge of invasive species management, habitat restoration or applied natural resource management
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to handle pesticides and train as an apprentice in the invasive species program
  • Ability to traverse steep gorges and difficult terrain

Preferred:

  • NYS Pesticide Applicator/Technician License
  • Familiarity with invasive and native plant identification in the Northeast US.
  • Proficiency with GPS data collection, ArcGIS, and Microsoft 365.
