Ventura Land Trust (VLT) is a nonprofit organization working to protect the land, water, wildlife, and scenic beauty of the Ventura region for current and future generations. We own almost 4,000 acres of wildlands in Ventura County and strive to learn about, enhance, and communicate conservation values through biological monitoring, adaptive management, and community ecological literacy. We endeavor to create a fun, inspiring, educational, and team-oriented work environment.

The Field Technician is a field-based position, providing skilled labor to support VLT’s conservation and stewardship programs through tasks such as invasive plant management, ecological restoration, natural resources mapping, biological monitoring, and community liaisonship. This position will report to the Conservation Director and will work both independently and within a small team of experienced technicians. The ideal candidate is rooted in the sciences with a background in natural resource management, has knowledge of and curiosity about local ecology (especially plants), has excellent communication skills both within the team and the community, and maintains a passion for challenging outdoor work.

Tenure - This is a fixed term position, funded through an existing grant that expires on July 24, 2027. Continued employment in this role after July 24, 2027, is contingent on securing supplemental funding and is not guaranteed.
