Position Summary

The Field Trip & Community Outreach Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and delivering Meadowlark Farm's educational programs and public outreach initiatives.

This position combines elements of education, curriculum development, customer communication, event coordination, and community engagement. The ideal candidate enjoys working with students, teachers, families, and community organizations while translating agricultural concepts into meaningful and memorable learning experiences.

This is not simply a tour guide position.

The successful candidate will help Meadowlark Farm serve as an educational resource and community partner while building long-term relationships between people, food, agriculture, and the land. Applicants should have reliable access to a personal computer and internet connection for occasional administrative work. 

Responsibilities

Educational Programming

• Lead farm field trips for students of varying ages and backgrounds.
• Facilitate safe, engaging, and age-appropriate outdoor learning experiences.
• Develop educational activities connected to agriculture, ecology, food systems, and conservation.
• Adapt educational content for different age groups and learning needs.
• Support experiential, place-based, and inquiry-driven learning.

Curriculum Development

• Create lesson plans, educational handouts, teacher guides, and activity materials.
• Develop educational resources based on scientific evidence and agricultural best practices.
• Maintain educational continuity documentation and program notes for future staff.
• Collaborate with teachers and community partners to align programming with educational goals when appropriate.

Outreach & Community Engagement

• Coordinate communication with schools, teachers, parents, and community organizations.
• Represent Meadowlark Farm at public events, educational programs, and outreach activities.
• Support educational partnerships with schools, nonprofits, libraries, and community organizations.
• Assist with event planning and educational promotion efforts.

Program Coordination

• Manage scheduling, logistics, and preparation for educational events.
• Coordinate supplies, materials, and activity preparation.
• Maintain participant records and communication documentation.
• Support safe supervision of groups in active outdoor farm environments.
