By joining our Fire Management Team, you will be a part of a highly functioning team working together to restore native ecosystems in and around the Chattahoochee Fall Line Ecoregion located in northern Marion County, Georgia. Other opportunities may be presented to assist partner agencies, such as the US Forest Service at Tuskegee National Forest and Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) managed by the Georgia Dept. of Natural Resources (GA-DNR). Our team consists of a dedicated group who are leading the conservation effort on multiple fronts and who expertly bring strategy and action together.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- High school diploma and 6 months of related experience.
- Must be qualified as a Fire Fighter Type 2 (FFT2), including Introduction to ICS (I-100), Human Factors on the Fire line (L-180), Introduction to Wild Land Fire Behavior (S-190), Firefighting Training (S-130), and one training burn serving under the supervision of a qualified FFT2. - Must achieve physical fitness standard as determined by local Fire Program Manager and the TNC Fire Manual. Must be able to walk 3 miles in 45 minutes carrying 45lbs.
- Experience operating various types of equipment.
- Must be able to obtain related licenses or certifications as required. (e.g. First Aid, CPR).
- Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Ability and willingness to follow instructions from colleagues.
Compensation and Housing:
- $18.00/hour.
- Housing with basic utilities will be provided in Marion County, Georgia, at no cost to the employee upon signing and agreeing to lease terms. The employee must live in provided housing with other Fire Management Technicians and Crew Manager to maximize the effectiveness of the crew and to provide a general security presence for TNC’s equipment.

The position will run from January 8, 2024, to June 28, 2024. Begin and end dates are flexible within the timeframe and maximum 6-month allotment. Preference will be given to applicants for a full 6-month commitment.
