This position is as a field biologist to conducting daily operations on Pacific lamprey. Study locations include the Deschutes River, Hood River, John Day River, and Fifteenmile Creek in the mid-Columbus River Basin. Work includes overseeing field technicians, leading field research studies for escapement estimates, harvest estimates, and larval distribution. Half-duplex PIT tags are used to document movement patterns. Experience with inserting PIT tags and building and operating antenna arrays is desired. The successful candidate must be able to assist in writing an annual report, which requires the ability to manage and analyze data, prepare graphs and tables, and present and interpret data clearly in standard scientific report format.
Must have a B.S. degree in fisheries or natural resources related field and at least six months of related experience. Mac computers are in use with Microsoft products installed, as well as basic statistical software.
Candidate must successfully pass a drug test administered in Warm Springs, possess a Valid Oregon Drivers license, and be insurable by the Tribal carrier and also pass a background check
