Overview
Supervisory and advanced technical level maintenance or professional level scientific work for the Department of Fish & Wildlife involving oversight of equipment maintenance and fish rearing activities at the Grand Isle facility. Duties include training, scheduling and assignment of personnel for work on mechanical equipment or the fish culture side of facility operations. Supervision is exercised over professional staff assigned to maintenance and culture activity. Work is performed under the supervision of the Fish Culture Specialist VI.
Examples of Work
Schedules, assigns and supervises fish rearing activities maintenance activities at the assigned facility. Ensures that nutritional, fish health, water quality components of fish production activities are performed to achieve fish production goals; OR ensures continuous operation and preventive maintenance programs on all equipment is performed. Ensures work is performed in compliance with permits associated with the facility. Develops and supervises implementation of remedial measures. Assists in training of subordinate personnel in fish culture techniques. Maintains knowledge of facility equipment sufficient to perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs. Responds to emergency situations as needed. May oversee or participate in research activities or facility upgrade projects as assigned. Collects, transports and stocks fish. Assists in public outreach efforts. Performs related work as required.
