Buford Trout Hatchery
JOB DESCRIPTION
Under general supervision, completes all phases of trout culture, including the care of incubating eggs and rearing of newly hatched fry to fingerling and adult sizes. The job also includes the transport and stocking of fish to and from hatcheries and various bodies of water. In addition, the job requires the operation and maintenance of hatchery equipment, facilities, and grounds as well as purchasing supplies and materials. Routine reporting of various types, such as hatchery production and stocking records as well as administrative reports like time sheets, are regular parts of the job. Work will include some weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule with other hatchery staff. Work may also include assisting with Department emergency response efforts. A hatchery residence is not provided for this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree or equivalent coursework (90 quarter hours or 60 semester hours) in Fisheries Management or related field from an accredited college or university.
OR
High school diploma or GED
AND
Two years of experience in the Wildlife Resources Division as a Fisheries Technician 1 (NRT060) or position equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference may be given to applicants with:
• Fisheries management experience;
• Experience in coldwater fish culture;
• DNR/WRD Employment Experience
